It had been quite a long night. Being that it was 2AM, everyone else was asleep leaving me all alone in this quiet old house, alone.
Often times it is the twilight of consciousness, the space between awake and asleep, where we find enlightenment. Refuge from reality. Our own world becoming more real than that which we "truly" inhabit.
My eyes closed tight, trying my hardest not to try anything. Trying my hardest to finally go to sleep. My mind kept running with thoughts, precognitions. Imagining the future, what college would be like, how hard it would be to leave home, whether or not i would even survive.
My eyes shot open. The entire earth grumbled, for precisely 0.392 seconds shaking everything in my room. The vibrations ceased just as soon as it began. "Earthquake?"
I had only felt earthquakes once before. So rare in this area.
I closed my eyes and continued attempting to dream. My concentration was broken once more by not something tactile, but acoustic rather. It felt like a train off in the distance. The sound was too dim to wake anyone else, but after time, the volume began to fill my room. For fear of a Locomotive coming through my window, i stood up and ran outside as fast as possible armed with a bat i had kept by my door.
The moonlight soaked the massive cumulus clouds towering like a city above the terrain. A huge expanse of empty field stretched to the horizon from where i stood, a small tributary of forest lining the south side of the field. As Luna laid low in the sky, she forced everything around her to shine. The tall grass lay dorm it and relaxed against the warm earth. I felt ill tidings singing on the wind.
The uproarious singing got closer with every breath i took. Watching the sky for any low flying airplanes, i became alarmed by the crescendo's climax. The mountainous clouds crumbled so quickly. A drain spout of cumulus  dropped an enormous fireball from its taper. This small star like structure plummeted, forced by more than gravity to the earth. The sliding impact created a crater in the expanse of grassy sea before me, destroying the mid-night bliss with a single stroke. The volume was also crushed by the crashing of this unidentified object with the terrain of catastrophic force. The moonlight was gone. A dark cloud of earth shrouded all my vision. Holding my ground, and holding my breath; i covered my eyes from the debris with one nervous, shaking hand. With the other i gripped the soft wood of Louisville Slugger. I took a breath as gravity took the debris to rest on the ground. With a new exhale i spoke, "Well, atleast i know it wasnt a crashing plane." I peered into the broken earth before me. I was awestruck by what i found in this hole.

This is a potential beginning to a good story. Check it out, then finish the story to how you think it should go. I'll post how i think it should go later. But its open to interpret. thanks.
