::The Last Epoch-"2"::Goliath
As crewmate Adrianne and I treaded the ship on our way to her lab she asked, You know that we probably wont find any hostile life there? Yeah, I know that. I laughed. Than why the heck did you design it in the first place, queried Adrianne. Because I am supposed to have my Titan Droid Commission finished for NASA. I cant afford to lose three years on this project; its a big deal, big money. Besides, I know you are the best weapons engineer for the job, we entered her lab with a scent of oil and burning rubber. Yeah, she smirked.
She approached the project, it was a red, ball shaped, device in the middle of her lab. As she walked up to it, I noticed the sheer scale of it. She wasnt a small woman, and the top of the device was about eyelevel. I thought the name goliath was fitting. It looked like the sphere was glowing then it started folding out into a 15ft. humanoid figure. Ju

Check, ready for countdown Houston. Buckle up chili peppers, he warned us. Commander Ryan had flown many missions in past wars. I assume this is why he was chosen to take our ships lead. . . . Three, two, one, reported Houston, light em up. Our Craft started to shake violently and a loud explosion expanded through our attention. The political atmospheres of this venture were at thick and the state of peace was fragile.
We had been training for about four years and this trip is such an enormous stride in history. I had flown a few times in the past on a lunar vacation and to space depots but never on a government funded mission. It seems so long since the man in the black suit showed up at my home recruiting me for the first mission to Mars. The red planet, I thought, its nerve-racking . . .
The crew was so excited and anxious to finally get a chance
Refuge of Reality It had been quite a long night. Being that it was 2AM, everyone else was asleep leaving me all alone in this quiet old house, alone.
Often times it is the twilight of consciousness, the space between awake and asleep, where we find enlightenment. Refuge from reality. Our own world becoming more real than that which we "truly" inhabit.
My eyes closed tight, trying my hardest not to try anything. Trying my hardest to finally go to sleep. My mind kept running with thoughts, precognitions. Imagining the future, what college would be like, how hard it would be to leave home, whether or not i would even survive.
My eyes shot open. The entire earth grumbled, for precisely 0.392 seconds shaking everything in my room. The vibrations ceased just as soon as it began. "Earthquake?"
I had only felt earthquakes once before. So rare in this area.
I closed my eyes a
a dangerous hallucinationThe light coming through the window was bright,
much too bright.
Even though my eyes were closed
I could see it-
The skin of my arms prickled,
sweat dripped from my brow.
It was two in the afternoon but…
the sun was setting
through the window facing east.
I should have seen the hutch,
shelves lined with bone china
decorated with delicate leaves and vines.
I was so thirsty
and reaching for cups that should have been there.
Instead I found a billboard of butterflies,
the colors raging
more than any rainbow
I'd ever seen.
Their wings fluttered and flashed
yet somehow they moved in slow motion.
I wanted to stand,
wanted to reach out and touch them but…
I couldn't move,
and yet I laughed
ignoring my dry mouth
and the tingling in my feet.
There was a tempest
on the rise
and in my blood.
A sugar rush disguised
as a riot of butterflies
and they were swarming me.
There was a small vial
of insulin in my pocket
that I nev
